Today, March 22, is National Maritime Day. This day was created in the United States to observe and appreciate the maritime industry. This day in 1819 commemorates the American steamship Savannah which was the first transoceanic vessel to travel from Savannah, Georgia by steam power. Its no doubt that the best place to celebrate this day on Long Beach Island is at the Maritime Museum in Beach Haven. We would like to thank everyone for their dedicated work to the maritime industry!
